(Run) Crew Love

Updated: Jun 9, 2020

Calling all runners (and everyone who has ever thought about running)! It is 2018 and we live in a day and age where running is no longer taboo. Last summer, it was reported that about 65 million people went jogging or running. This was a 20 million increase from 2008! Running has been taken to a social level now. I was always used to running by myself with music until I started running with Nike Run Club. This is basically a run group hosted by Nike that was more pace driven. Whatever your normal pace (the time it takes for you to run a mile) is, you would get added into that group. There are normally different distances that can be ran too!

NRC sessions can be seen through the Nike Plus app and are generally done throughout the world.

However, an alternative to that are run crews! Run crews have grown more prevalent in the past few years. These are a little more casual and not as structured. The purpose of run crews is to bring runners from the community together and give back to the community. All the runs are free, and you don’t need to be an advanced runner to run with the crews (at least most of them)! Running can be intimidating, but this makes it so much more welcoming. Running with a crew is more about the vibe and the people than the speed. There is a run crew for everyone and they are also all over the world.

I highly encourage running with a crew because: it is a good way to start running or to keep up with running, learn about the area, network, and build relationships with people who have a common interest. As someone who runs with different crews, it is a way for me to connect with other runners and to learn about the area I’m running in. Each crew definitely has its own identity, but it’s all love!
